       Science Centre Kodungallur organizes exciting Science shows everyday and a variety of special programmes and activities in Science & Technology regularly which are suitable for all age groups. Exciting 3-D Film Shows, Science Demonstration Lectures, Science Film Shows, Sky Observations etc. are held everyday for the visitors. The Centre organizes specially designed programmes & activities such as Science Quiz Contests, Seminars, Creative Science Workshops and Astronomy classes etc. for enhancing scientific aptitude and develops creativity among the students. Teachers' Training Programmes & low-cost, no cost experiments for Teachers help teachers in updating their knowledge and improving the quality of Science education. The Centre organizes a variety of programmes during Commemorative Events special occasions.

To provide the latest information in Science & Technology centre organizes Popular Science Lectures by leading Scientists & experts, Temporary Exhibitions etc. for the public. by collaborating with leading national and international institutions.

       Well-equipped 140-seater auditorium for conducting seminars & programmes, Science Film Shows.

      The Centre has three fully equipped labs of participatory exhibits: biology museum and Fun Science. The exhibits in the Centre are fully participatory and allow curious minds to play with them, operate, change variables, observe, question and explore to learn and understand the scientific concepts & principles.

TEXT

  • The Society for Science and Students is an institution registered under Charitable Societies Act (Reg. No.  201/06) and the Science Centre is an Autonomous Research Centre roofed by it.
  • The Science Centre has well equipped labs for various disciplines of Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths and also an Observatory with powerful telescopes.

TREATMENT

  • To promote Science - with special emphasis on scientific temper, scientific method and attitude among the masses as well as the students.
  • To transfer household chemical technology – of making soaps, detergents, pain balm, toilet cleaner, stiff and shine etc. , to the people.
  • To design low-cost and effective teaching and learning aids.
  • To design and make various scientific equipment.
  • To provide facilities to the students and to assist them doing various projects.
  • To create awareness among the students and the masses about the burning issues of the day- Energy, Environment, Forest and Water.

MODULES COVERED

       Within a short span of 5 years the Science Centre could undertake and Successfully complete a comfortable number of programmes, a few of which are listed below:

  1. One-day interactive programme for students, teachers and teacher -trainees.
  2. “Vidyasree” project of Methala Grama Panchayath for improving the Educational standard of S.S.C.  Students.
  3. “Little Scientist” Science Festival sponsored by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.
  4. Rajiv Gandhi Akshaya Urja Campaign funded by ANERT.
  5. Rural Chemical Technology transfer for KUDUMBASREE DIST.  MISSION, THRISSUR.
  6. Science Village “- free transfer of technology to everybody who needs it.

EVALUATION & CITATION

        In recognition of our efforts and activities a rare and valued award has recently been conferred on us and it was from the foremost institution and authority in the field of science in the state –KSCSTE (Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment). K.S.C.S.T.E.  Has recognized the Science Centre as the agency for implementing their programme -  “Science Popularization” as per Order No. (T) 410/SPC/2010/KSCSTE  10.03.2011. … We are now in the preliminaries of executing the Programme.

EXPECTATION

  • The idea of a MOBILE LAB is getting mobility.
  • A MUSEUM OF SKELETONS – in the skeletal stage and …..


      Blooming up slowly in the campus is a SCIENCE PARK.
